Clinical Pilates
Pilates originated from the world of ballet by Joseph Pilates who developed a program of exercises to strengthen and enhance the precision of body movement and posture in dancers. This became a world wide phenomenon and is used both in sporting performance and also in healthcare.
Our core is the foundation to our movement system. The trunk is controlled through the local stabilisers, pelvic floor, transversus abdominis, multifidus and the diaphragm. This creates a certain amount of rigidity in the spine to give us a stable base to perform movement from.

On top of these muscles are the slings. These muscles work together to control motion through the three dimensional planes of movement. When working efficiently they prevent overload and muscle imbalances which cause injury in our bodies.

The classes focus on these key muscles and is delivered through a series of mat based and postural related exercises. We incorporate functional, 3D and small equipment exercises into the sessions to keep you challenged in both precision and proprioception. The sessions are delivered by an APPI qualified physiotherapist and vary each time to ensure we add variety to your health and performance.
